Since 1997, The Heart of America Foundation® (HOA) has provided children living in poverty with more than four million library and take-home books through its READesign and Books from The Heart® programs. HOA has transformed over 353 educational spaces for under-resourced schools across the country. For the Library Project, HOA coordinates the purchasing, sorting, and cataloging of brand new library books for each school and provides three student books for each student to take home. Since Year 1, HOA has provided more than 22,180 student books and nearly 36,000 library books for the renovated spaces. In addition, HOA coordinates grand opening events at each library that include family tours and a Client Choice Food Pantry stocked by the Maryland Food Bank.
